It is a well known fact that smoking, in any form, is dangerous not only for your own health, but for those who also live around you. Everyone knows that smoking attributes to a number of health problems. To name a few are lung cancer, emphysema, asthma, mouth ulcers and cardiac disorders.

Now the question arises, why do people start to smoke knowing very well that it can shorten their life? The answer lies in the addictive chemical in tobacco known as nicotine.  There may be a different reason for everybody to get into the, bad, habit. Some teenagers say it helps them look older, others find it a way to relax and some start because their friends do. Whatever the reason may be for anybody to get into the habit, the fact is that getting into it is easy but getting out of it is very difficult (not impossible).

It is possible to quit smoking if you are determined, devise a plan, take supplements to help cleanse your body and use methods to curb nicotine cravings. The first step towards this new beginning is planning a date to quit smoking. Eat a well balanced diet, take vitamin C supplement and drink lots of water. Try and be aloof with other smokers. Echinacea can be used to help flush nicotine out of the lymph system and lungs. Eating an alkaline rich diet, like spinach, beet greens, raisins, figs, dandelion greens, and almonds, reduces tobacco cravings. The following home remedies have been very effective in the quitting process, so why not give them a try!

-Lick a little salt with the tip of your tongue whenever you feel the urge to smoke. This is   said to break the habit very soon.

– Oats reduce or eliminate tobacco cravings, also, they reduce the number of cigarettes desired even in those people not trying to quit.

You can feel the benefits as soon as you quit smoking. Your system feels fresh and energetic. After a few days, your abilities to smell, taste and walk improve. You set a good example for your children. After a few years, you again start increasing the numbers of years of your life which you had cut down by smoking.
